Yay! My next game got approved today. Introducing: Clue Word. I’ve been working on this game for soooo long now and I am happy it’s (finally) done. It should’ve taken me just a couple of months, but with a full time job and all, things just crawl.
Clue Word is like a Sunday’s paper word puzzle game. It blends crosswords and anagrams. There are 8 clues given and 14 letters to solve it. Using the letters, you can find all the answers to all the clues. Take a look at the image example.
Sweet ‘n sour. After being ‘In Review’ status for 10 days the submitted apps got a verdict. A paid and free version for Solitaire Collection were up for judgement. The paid version got approved – Sweet! Unfortunately… the free version got rejected – Sour!
The free version has ads (starving artist must eat). It also has the option to upgrade and remove ads from it if they get to annoying for the user. The reason the app got rejected by the iTunes review team is because a ‘Restore Purchases’ button was not included with the app. But why is this needed? Say a user buys the upgrade and removes the ads. Then, at some point in time the user deletes the app. When the user delete’s the app, the upgrade purchase disappears. Now say the user re-installs the app after some times. When the app is launched, the ads would return. The ‘Restore Purchases’ button helps the user retrieve what they have already purchased. It makes sense that Apple enforces this option for developers to help users retain what is theirs!
Resubmitted the free version and it’s back to a waiting game!
Solitaire Collection is now available at the AppStore. The review process took about 10 days.
So I hear every game has a story. So what’s Sol Collections’? It turns out that I’d made several games before. Regardless of what type it was, every time I’d come home my spouse would play a game and one game only – Solitaire!! Jealous that my games were not being played I decided to make my own version of solitaire. I can now proudly say that my spouse now plays my app. Once solitaire was completed it was natural progression to create freecell, and then of course, spider solitaire. Seeing how there’s a ton of these card apps out there, I didn’t see one app that sold all these three popular card games in one simple app. So there it is. That’s the Sol Col story.
Now we wait for the apps release once Apple approves of it.
Blog is up. Probably my 7th or 8th attempt to get a blog going. It’s one of those things where you say to yourself “I am going to start a blog. Oh, I have have so much to say and share with the world wait till they get a hold of me!” And then… effort. - Well for whatever it’s worth here it is.
Apple developer account is finally (!!) set-up and now it’s time to submit the first few apps I’ve been working on for some time. First up: Solitaire card games.
